Microsoft has moved to accelerate its quantum-safe security roadmap, warning that progress in quantum computing is arriving faster than many in the industry had anticipated. According to reporting by BleepingComputer, the company said the need to replace the encryption standards that protect today's digital systems is now expected to come sooner than previously projected.
For organisations across Europe — and for the data flows that connect European and African businesses — the announcement is a signal to begin planning migrations away from cryptography that could one day be broken by sufficiently powerful quantum machines.
