Dominion Dynamics, an Ottawa-based defence technology startup, has closed a Series A round worth $139 million CAD (about US$100 million) — a figure that, according to Ventureburn, is believed to be the largest single Series A ever raised by a Canadian defence technology company. The deal signals growing investor appetite for sovereign security capabilities at a moment when global powers are competing for influence across the Arctic.
For international investors and defence technology funds watching cross-border opportunities, the round underscores how capital is flowing toward companies building hardware and software for harsh, infrastructure-poor environments — a theme with relevance well beyond the polar north.
